Marine Max

Wrightsville Beach, NC

The result of the newly renovated Marine Max is a concept that favorably echoes the quality of services they provide and the Intracoastal Waterway which serves as the backdrop for their new Wrightsville Beach location. We provided a fresh approach to achieving an experiential atmosphere through use of color, form, and function. A new emphasis was given to issues such as quantity of space, light and views. As a result, the two-story open concept design serves as a collaborative office space and showroom. We embraced a minimalistic approach that conveys a sense of modern sleekness. Architectural elements such as exposed ductwork and beams display the raw personality of the building, while understated, neutrally hued walls serve to highlight the open room's structure. A crisp, natural color palette: varying hues of white and blue emulate the coastal culture and create an environment that feels equally soothing and inviting.

Coastal-inspired materials also play a role in defining the aesthetic. Weathered wood tones, glass accents found within the light fixtures and artwork are also a coastal style standby. The ceiling and ductwork were painted white and the flooring laid out using dark and sandy wood grain tiles. This foundational design principle adds a huge dose of visual interest to the interior while simultaneously pulling it together and insuring innovative design. Encouraging the promotional aspect of the showroom, special attention was paid to the quality of light and views. In order to attract customers into the space, there needed to be a visual connection to the exterior. A large glass facade inherits the front of the building which floods the space with natural light and benefits the space from forward-looking views. Branding is reflective through physical manifestation. Marine Max’s corporate blue trademark is emphasized and prominently featured throughout the furnishings and accessories. A custom metal logo presents distinctly as a centerpiece on the dominant structural wall. The silver tone metal constitutes a sleek dimensional impact and renders a sophisticated first impression.
