The client desired a design that offered a wow factor with vibrant colors while prioritizing durability and suitability for the shop's location. It was crucial that all elements be washable and wipeable to accommodate the shop's nature. The client's unique idea to use a converted VW Bus as the point of sale served as the springboard for the entire design concept. The design concept features a colorful exterior awning and eye-catching paint choices to attract customers. The VW Bus not only functions as a point of sale but also serves as a unique branding element. Updated materials add texture and dimension, with durability being a key consideration. A soft pastel color palette infuses the space with youthful energy, while wood tones in the furnishings provide warmth.
The swing was an element that underwent multiple revisions to ensure it functioned effectively as an Instagram-worthy spot that was also safe for children. This reworking enhanced both the style and functionality of the space. One of the standout elements of the finished project is the tile at the ice cream counter. This early selection helped define the project's color scheme and guided many subsequent design decisions. A unique aspect of this project was the opportunity to source materials within a specific color palette. The playful yet durable selections, such as purple terrazzo flooring and mint-colored furniture, allowed for a high level of creativity with the vendors, making the project both challenging and fun!
