The clients wanted a traditional style with a fresh twist, prioritizing comfort for their work-from-home lifestyle and love of entertaining! With a growing family, durability and cleanability were key. Our design goal was to create a sophisticated, classic look that felt inviting rather than stuffy. We incorporated the clients’ love for bold color and original art, infusing the space with personality while ensuring the base layers—furniture and rugs—were practical and timeless.
Lighting played a crucial role in enhancing both the style and function of the space. We re-centered the ceiling fixture in the dining room to align with new molding, added hardwired sconces for additional light and impact, and swapped random kitchen cans for decorative mini-flush mounts that complemented the playful ceiling fixture in the breakfast nook. A console behind the living room sofa brought in more surface area and functional lighting with table lamps. The result was a beautifully lit space featuring original artwork, including a piece by local Wilmington, NC, artist Sydney D. Falkner in the dining room, which drives the color scheme throughout the home!
